NES Symphony: Four Movements (Unfinished Jam Entry)
A downloadable game
You’re the conductor of a symphony! An NES symphony, that is! Hire people to fill the 5 positions (Triangle, Pulse, Pulse, Noise, and Samples, the respective channels in the NES sound card), train, practice, and perform
This game was developed over 48 hours for the 2018 Pizza Jam, and is pretty much held together by duct tape. T'was my first ever game jam! I'm frankly surprised I got as far as I did...
The main thing thats noticeably missing is the "Records" menu. It's just empty. I figured it was the least important, and I ran out of time.
All "artwork," programming, sound, and the title theme were made by me during this jam.
Special thanks to 'Computer James' for running this jam, and also thanks to his mother for being lovely & joining him on this.
This game is dedicated to Kairosoft for wasting my life with Game Dev Story, but still inspiring me to make games.
Tips:
-Go into debt, and you lose!
-There is no balance in this game, as I didn’t have time to really plan out the numbers, and I had to make some educated guesses, that were clearly very off. So maybe let me know your thoughts about how it goes.
-There are 5 original NES accurate songs that I made, in this game. If you want to change songs, just enter the “perform” menu. The music stops because you’re about to perform. Exit the menu, and the game will choose a new song.
Known Bugs:
This game is held together by duct tape, so I’m sure more will crop up. But what I know for sure is that there is a strange bug when you hire the first person for the Triangle position, the other two people get removed. There's a couple similar bugs when it comes to hiring people.
Special thanks to 'Computer James' for running this jam, and also thanks to his mother for being lovely & joining him on this.
